Bikers tackle challenging Eungella race

On Sunday morning eight members from the whitsunday Mountain Bike Club (WMTBC) participated in the Mackay Mountain Marathon at Eungella National Park.

Club members took part in both the 30km sport course and the 65km competition course.

This was the first time the race was held and it attracted over 280 riders from all over Queensland including three-time world champion Jason English.

Chris Labes picked up second in the ladies category and all riders from Airlie Beach had a great time and are keen to head back next year.

Club member Jason Whitham raced in his first race on Sunday and said the race appealed to people of all different levels of experience. “the track was great and overall we all had a fantastic time,” he said.
