WMTBC on XC Podium

With the third and final round of the Mad Mountain Bike Club’s XC series wrapping up last week it was exciting to see our members doing well!

The Mackay and District (MAD) Mountain Bike Club’s home track, Rowallan Park, was host to over100 riders throughout the three-part, six-week series. Riders tackled a 2-hour course which started out shorter in distance in race one and has been gradually lengthened over the series with the final edition resembling the route that will be used in this year’s MAD RUSH.
The last round was a wet one with some riders commenting on the unexpected muddy conditions playing havoc to their race plan but it didn’t slow everyone down; Sam Sorley took 1st place in the Women’s while Ash Hogan secured 3rd in Elites despite not making it to the third round. Matt Telford raced admirably claiming a first-equal spot in the Sport Category and many other riders and volunteers contributed to the series. Mackay’s next race at Rowallan Park will be the MAD RUSH and they will cap off the season with a twilight series in October.

Sam Sorley rides one of the sections of trail at Rowllan Park – home of the Mad Mountain Bike Club.
Rowallan Park boasts over 10km of expertly designed single-track.
