WMTBC WIN QLD AWARD
On Friday evening Chris attended the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF) Awards ceremony on behalf of the WMTBC where the club took joint honours with Adventure Sport North Queensland in the category of Encouraging Participation in Outdoor Recreation.
QORF is recognised as the peak body representing the interests of outdoor recreation users in Queensland, and affirms the value of outdoor recreation and encourages all people to recreate outdoors.
The ceremony was attended by over 150 VIPs from the outdoor community of Queensland including polar explorer Geoff Wilson who spoke about the importance of having a hero and setting goals to achieve.
The Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have been successful in significantly improving outdoor recreation outcomes for participants and clients. They are also a means of recognising how important outdoor recreation is to the lifestyle of Queenslanders.
A three minute video on The Dirty Molle Island Escape was played to the crowd which was met by excited gasps and many laughs at the name – all in all the WMTBC, mountain biking and the Whitsundays received notable interest with many coming to talk to Chris after the event about the opportunities that exist.
This is an outstanding achievement for a club formed less than 18 months ago and for an event that has only been held for the second time in 2014!
Huge congratulations must go to the organising committee, volunteers and sponsors:
Club President and First Lady Michael & Sam Sorley for their endless enthusiasm!
