Hey team,

We’ve started a group on Facebook so we can share tips and coordinate this year’s Paluma Push effort.Jump on so we can organise accommodation, ride-share and sort the car shuffle.

Join the WMTBC at The Paluma Push

Accommodation Options:

Cabins at Balgal Beach (Chris’ top pick): cheap if you bunk in together, close to Paluma Range, warmer than staying in the valley!!

Camping at Paluma: Cold. Be prepared. Check out the Paluma Push website for camping details.

Staying in Townsville: You will have to be up super early to get up the range and do the car shuffle, but our favourite easy accommodation option is the Walkabout Palms Big 4, $75 for a bunkhouse that sleeps two.

The race is early Sunday morning and you need to leave yourself time to get organised with the car shuffle etc. I recommend you travel up on Saturday, race Sunday and seriously consider staying on Sunday night as well travelling back Monday.

Book your accommodation at Bangal Beach Holiday Units

Car Shuffle: always a tricky part of the weekend. The way this works is we all meet at Paluma and the unlucky ones get dropped here to wait in the cold while the drivers head 45 minutes to the finish and drop cars there (preferably cars that can handle lots of bikes and lots of riders… we’ve been known to get pretty creative here) then drive the 45 minutes back to the start again. Get talking – we need to work together to make this easy for everyone!!

Dinner Options:

A few of us went to the Rollingstone Pub for the Saturday night dinner last year an this was pretty awful. We all agreed that we should have catered for ourselves on Saturday night with some pasta cooked at the units.

But if you’re after some awesome fish n’ chips check out the Fisherman’s Landing Kiosk down the road from the Bangal Beach units. Yumm! (take insect repellant).
