New Tracks for Airlie Cove

The WMTBC & BIG4 Airlie Cove Resort & Caravan Park have a very special Christmas gift for the MTB community; work has begun on trails within Airlie Cove’s property!!

The WMTBC have been working with Airlie Cove & McLean Projects from Townsville for the past two years developing the proposal and work on the project started this week.

The trails will not be ready until the New Year but stay tuned as WMTBC members will be given an opportunity to assist with trail crafting, bedding in and we will be organising a trail opening party in conjunction with the park!

Thanks to all Whitsunday Mountain Bike Club Inc. members because without your continued membership and support of the club we cannot keep pushing ahead with projects.

Special thanks finally to the staunchest supporters of the WMTBC Sam & Michael John Sorley and Bob Clanfield for all your time you devote to the WMTBC and to this project.

Stay tuned for a very exciting future of MTB for the Whitsundays!!

Ash is Riding Everest for PNG

Our very own Ash Hogan will be riding up the equivalent of Mount Everest for charity in Papua New Guinea this weekend.

Head along to support him as he rides the access road up to the communications towers in Shute Harbour this Friday night.

We believe Ash intends to start at midnight on Friday (tomorrow) and ride as many laps as he can before the head of the day starts. Check him out on Facebook to confirm a good time to head along and cheer him on: https://www.facebook.com/EverestPNG/?fref=ts

Enduro August 16

Welcome Gravity Riders!

Whitsundays Gravity Enduro

Here’s a bit of an update on where we’re at:

We’ve got 7 registered to race (4 comp, 3 sport) and we’ve got a team of volunteers keen to get out there and run the event. We’d love our visitors from Mackay & Townsville to come and ride our trail and help provide our fledgling club with some feedback and tips on how to run the event in the future. But we do understand it’s a fair way to travel.

It’s going to be our only opportunity to ride this trail without pedestrians and our local club riders are pretty excited about that prospect, rest assured we will be there on Sunday ready to race and time you on our sweet single track!!

We’ll keep registrations open right up till Saturday – waiting for the late rush.
Registrations available right here: https://www.registernow.com.au/mtba/ERegister.aspx?E=2642
However, if you have already registered and would like a refund just flick us an email at whitsundaymtbc@gmail.com and we’ll sort that out for you in no time.

We’ll provide another update on Friday for numbers etc.

If you’re looking for some accommodation check out the link on our Whitsunday MTBC Website and keep spreading the word!

Updates again soon,
Whitsunday MTBC Gravity Enduro Committee
